Food & Wine Classic in Aspen

Ever wondered what it's like to walk into a tent with endless food and wine? We, the ladies of @foodintheair, partnered up with Emirates to experience the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and we're bringing you the breakdown.

Day 1: Grand Tasting Pavillion + Dubai in the Sky

We were told this is the crème de le crème of food and wine festivals, and it was easily seen just by walking in. Try passing 5 winery booths while trying to not get distracted, it's hard. Trust us. But the Emirates Flight Path Bar caught our eye immediately.

Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot... pick your poison. Those are just a couple of over 200 wines you are offered annually while flying Emirates. No one told us we'd be on a strict cheese, charcuterie, wine diet while in Aspen but we survived- we know everyone was worried. Our F&W Classic crew even consisted of their cabin crew. Talk about class.

After being wined and dined by the crew and sommelier we made our way out of the tent to take in the mountain views. We thought people were hyping up the town's beauty but it was even more than we expected.

After a day of indulgence, we joined Emirates on the top of Aspen Mountain for, you guessed it, more indulging. A quick gondola ride up the mountain and we were transported to the Emirates celebration "Dubai in the Sky". On top of the mountain we honored the festival's 35th anniversary with the editor-in-chief of Food & Wine Magazine, Nilou Motamed...pretty unbelievable.

Day 2: Grand Tasting Pavilion + LIVE from F&W Classic in Aspen Party

We were lucky enough to start Day 2 in the same way we started Day 1...endless food and wine samplings in the Grand Tasting Pavilion. We continued to make our way from one winery to the next but obviously ended back up at the Emirates Flight Path Bar. Only to be greeted with an even more exciting selection of drinks than the day before.

The cabin crew was serving up Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut 2008 along with Moet & Chandon Rose Imperial Champagne - they obviously knew how to win us over. Emirates' wines are chosen specifically for your flight with a regionally inspired menu of award-winning meals...talk about going above and beyond (flight pun intended).

Just a few of the options you can expect on an Emirates flight.

After a quick power nap and another afternoon spent in the Grand Tasting Pavilion, we made our way to Belly Up Aspen club for the "LIVE at F&W" party with the Emirates team and some of the best chefs in the game. More food, more wine, more everything...you get the jist? Let's just say there was endless proscuitto, Whispering Angel rosé and believe it or not "truffle showers" by Chef Andrew Zimernn. We have to give a big shoutout to the band though, The Spazmatics. See the picture below to fully understand their nerdy-greatness.

The Perfect Gathering: Off the Grid

Having recently moved to San Francisco, I have learned there is SO much to do here: Farmer's markets, hiking just fifteen minutes from my apartment, hunting for that perfect view you "have to Instagram", wine tastings, and even parties such as "Goat Festival" aka Goatchella. But the one event, or should I say three events, I look forward to each week is the food truck festival put on by Off The Grid every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. I recently attended their Thursday event, Twilight at the Presidio

On Thursdays, they set up cabanas and fire pits you can reserve for a fee or it's first come, first serve (but believe me you'll want to reserve because they are hot, hot, hot). I was able to snag a fire pit with eight friends where you can text a number and a waiter will come over to get your drink orders, um, yes please. This is the tech hub of the country after all, we should expect perks such as cocktail delivery by now. Right?

Next dilemma: which food truck shall I pick? There are up to 22 different choices including Vietnamese, seafood, Indian, South American, Asian fusion, Italian and even more. My favorite trucks so far have been Lobsta Truck (gotta get the roll), Cheese Gone Wild, and The Taco Guys. While you take in the sunset overlooking the water, listen to the live music, and hang out with your friends, this is truly a must-attend event to scare off the work days. I will definitely be going back with entourage, dog and all, and a fire pit of course.

Check out Off the Grid: Twilight at the Presidio (Thursdays, 5-9 pm), Fridays at Fort Mason (5-9pm) & Picnic at the Presidio (Sundays, 11 am- 4pm). More importantly, don't forget to track the food trucks everyday throughout the Bay Area on offthegridsf.com

International Wings Factory - UES

Garlic Parmesan Wing | International Wing Factory

Wings. Aren't we always on the hunt for the perfect wing? For the wing that will make your sunday that much less scary? For the wing that will make watching your team win THAT much better? Theres a lot that goes into finding your perfect wing and satisfying the wing needs of all your friends as well. What if there was a place where you could choose a mild buffalo wing versus a hot buffalo wing, or a garlic parmesan wing with a basil pesto dipping sauce? OR the biggest debate, ranch versus blue cheese?! What if I told you there was a place that combines both blue cheese & ranch. Well look no more!!! International Wing Factory on the Upper East Side is our new wing heaven! Their wings vary from every heat level of buffalo to vietnamese chile mango! And wait till you try their panko encrusted brownie for dessert...TO DIE FOR! Not only does this spot have a plethora of wings to choose from, they also have 14 DIPPING SAUCES...let me repeat that again, FOURTEEN!!! They also have sandwiches, fries, burgers, vegan soy nuggets, the list goes on and on! And to top it all off, the owners could not be friendlier and more welcoming.

So the short of it is, if you like a variety when it comes to your wings and your desired dipping sauce...look no more. This place KNOWS how to do wings, just the way you like it.
